When Faced with a Clogged Drain, Call an Edmonton Plumbing Expert

How does a drain get clogged? Drainage systems collect excess rainwater, kitchen wastewater, and toilet wastewater. Unfortunately, these different wastewater types can hold a certain amount of solid matter that can possibly block the drainage pipes. When these solid particles accumulate, clogging occurs. When your drain pipes are clogged, water will stagnate, which can lead to leaks or even worse, wastewater backup. A properly installed drainage system won’t make much difference if you don’t know how to take care of it. Kitchen drainage systems can be blocked by accumulation of oil and fat poured into them; foreign items flushed in the toilet can be trapped in the U-bend or somewhere else in the pipes. The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA), a non-profit trade association with more than 60,000 members across North America and Canada, provides some specifics on how your drains can get clogged at different points in time.
